We invite submission of papers reporting original academic or industrial research in the area of Advanced Learning Technologies and Technology-enhanced Learning. All papers will be double-blindly peer-reviewed. Complete papers are required to be reviewed. Abstracts or incomplete papers are not included to the review process.

Preparing Your Manuscript

The anticipated types of submissions for all tracks are:

  • Full paper: 5 pages
  • Short paper: 3 pages
  • Poster paper: 2 pages

  • Doctoral Consortium paper: 3 pages

Important Note: These page limits include authors' information, abstract (no more than 200 words), all tables, figures, references, etc.
Authors’ information should be included ONLY in the camera-ready version of the manuscript and NOT in the initial version. However, during the preparation of the initial manuscript, authors’ should leave a number of empty lines at the beginning of the manuscript, so as to include authors’ information during the camera-ready manuscript submission.

Authors are required to follow the IEEE Formatting Template that can be found here: Doc and PDF . The complete IEEE Referencing Style Guidelines to be followed can be found here.

The authors of accepted papers will be required to complete a copyright form at the time of camera-ready manuscript submission. All submissions will be reviewed on the basis of relevance, originality, research significance, technical quality, organization and readability. Manuscripts should be submitted in Word or RTF file formats. In case, authors are using Latex, PDF files are acceptable if they are formatted based on the IEEE Formatting Template that can be found here: Doc and PDF .

Preparation and Submission

The ICALT 2019 proceedings are published by the IEEE Computer Society Publications and indexed in IEEEXplore. The conference proceedings will be proposed for indexing in ISI Web of Science.

Authors are requested to adhere to the page limits as mentioned above while preparing the camera ready manuscript.

The anticipated types of submissions for all tracks are:

Paper Presentation

  • Full paper has 20 minutes and short paper has 15 minutes for the presentation (the time includes Q and A).
  • AV, laptop equipment provided. Please bring your presentation on a USB in a standard format (PDF, PPT, PPTX, DOC, HTML).
  • All presenters should be in the room 10 minutes before the session starts.

Poster session

Printed poster format:

  • Standard A1 Format (841x594mm) or a custom size within the limits of a A1 poster.

Poster should include:

  • Paper title and authors at the top of the poster
  • a brief introduction, goals, experimental detail, conclusions, and references (make sure this information is presented in a logical and clear sequence)
  • explanations and captions for graphs, pictures, and tables

Suggested font sizes:

  • 72 pts. for title
  • 36 pts. for authors
  • 20 pts. double-spaced text
  • recommended reading distance: min. 2-3 m (6-10 ft.)

Guidelines for the poster session:

  • Presenter will be required to setup their posters at the designated places well before the session begins.
  • Presenter is required to stand by the poster during the scheduled poster session to answer questions from attendees.
  • Presenters must remove their posters immediately after the poster session.
  • Posters not removed will be considered unwanted and will be discarded.

Snap Stories

What is a Snap-story?

A snap-story is a visual representation that conveys the key idea of your ICALT paper. Essentially it is an advertisement for your paper! Each registered paper (Full, Short, Poster) along with its session timing and venue will feature in the program book of ICALT 2019. To help attendees get more information about each paper, its snap-story in the form of an image which enabled via Augmented Reality (AR) application will be linked to its details in the program book.

Guidelines to submit your snap-story

Your snap-story should be displayed onto a PPT slide 13.333 inch by 7.5 inches, 1280 by 720 pixels. (see sample snap-story).

The snap-story may be visually enhancing. Too much text may not work as well as pictures and relevant infographics.

We will make provision for the viewer to scan your snap-story through an app.

This is your chance to advertise your paper – so put on your Creative Avatar.

Q and A

Q1. How can I create the Snap-story?

Ans: Below are some options to create the snap-story for your paper.

  1. A powerpoint presentation/ keynote slide using default size and resolution settings.
  2. Photoshop/ other editing software to create your image adhering to size and resolution mentioned above.

Q2. One slide is hardly enough to describe my innovative and path-breaking work!

Ans: Yes, you are right. The point of the snap-story is not to *describe* your work. After all, of you have a 15 or 20-minute talk or a poster in which you can describe it. The idea is to create a captivating overview of your work. It is a 'trailer for the forthcoming presentation.

Q3. Should I include the date and time of my talk/poster in my snap-story?

Ans: No, you need not, the organisers will make provisions to display the date, time, and venue.

Q4. Can we create more than one Snap-story?

Ans: No, to maintain parity we won't be able to accommodate more snap-stories for a paper.

Copyrights

The copyrights of the papers are transferred to IEEE (except if it’s entirely the work employees of the US or a crown government).

Handling of Non-Presented Papers

One of the authors of the accepted papers is expected to attend the conference in person to present the paper and share their ideas. If a paper is included in the proceedings distributed on site and is later identified as a non-presented paper, it will still be included in the proceedings delivered to IEEE. https://www.computer.org/web/cs-cps/copyright However, it will be flagged as “no-show” so that the paper will be archived but will not be indexed or appear in IEEE Xplore. But: Copyright of non-presented papers is still retained by IEEE – an author cannot submit the same paper to another conference or journal for publication. However, you can submit elsewhere an expanded version of this paper, but prior to this, you would have to request permission from IEEE Intellectual Property Rights department using RightsLink (https://www.ieee.org/publications_standards/publications/rights/rights_link.html). Once permission is granted, you can then expand on the paper and submit to another publication.
